The crushed stone industry is a contribution to the nation in terms of economics. Crushed stone has been in demand by the levels of construction and building throughout the nation. There’s different types of aggregate that are needed for construction, including gravel, crushed stone, and recycled concrete.
Crushed stone is made from several different types of rock and comes in a variety of sizes. Each size is used for different uses in construction, residential, and government roadway projects. Crushed stone is mainly used in commercial or residential projects, or for road construction in the development of roads and highways.
Sizes of Crushed Stone in Construction:
1 ½” – This size of crushed stone is mostly used for roads in construction. It’s also used in residential settings as patio, driveway, slab, and walkway material. This size stone is used for drainage, septic systems, and dry wells.
2 1/2″ – This size of crushed stone is also known as a DOT # 2 size for government construction projects. It is used for road base. It’s also used for construction site entry and exit ways. In residential use, it’s used for driveways, drainage, septic, and the management of storm water.
There are many more sizes that we produce for construction and residential materials. We have construction aggregate that can be used as bedding for concrete, parking lots, roads, and driveways.
Producing Crushed Stone
We produce crushed aggregate onsite or by hauling the material to our quarry for recycling. We first crush the stone to sizes that are smaller than its original size. We then run a second crushing that is set to the size for its intended use. Once the second crushing has taken place, we screen the crushed stone to determine if it needs further crushing or if it is a finished product.
